This device is for customers who want hassle-free entry of their property. Instead of using remotes, push buttons, keypads or any other system, it works on an electromagnet and photo eye sense; just drive towards the gate and it will open. As a body of metal moves past the buried sensor at a minimum of 5 MPH, the sensor's electromagnetic field gets disturbed and the connection between the photo eye and the sensor is interrupted so the gate is triggered to open. This combination of a photo eye sensor and an electromagnetic one prevents passing traffic from triggering the gate, while non-metallic objects will not trigger the opener, either. Because there are no security codes or access devices, this accessory is for property owners more concerned with aesthetics, retaining dogs or livestock, or preventing the entry of deer or other pests.
Both the electromagnet and the photo eye are wired directly to the gate opener for its activation. The photo eye is placed on the primary side of the driveway (the side with the control box). Simply run wire down to the photo eye and mount it on a small post in the ground. Then arrange the reflector up to 18' away on the opposite side of the driveway and reflect the beam from the eye back to the eye.

1. Is this product easy to install by myself?
The electromagnetic sensor gets buried parallel to the driveway instead of under it like a loop, making installation a breeze. Running the wire from the sensors across the driveway to the gate opener can take a bit of time, however.

3. Will a dog collar, or bicycle open the gate?
That is the specialty of this setup; the dog or bike would have to trigger the metal sensor and break the photo eye beam to make the gate open, which is much less likely to happen than with the exit wand alone.
4. What if my driveway is wider than 18'?
The photo eye and sensor needs to be that distance apart to sense each other. If you have a wider driveway, you may have to make a median and create an entry side.
5. Will rain, snow, or any other weather condition prevent it from functioning properly?
The only conditions that would impair the functioning of this system are snow or electrical storms. The snow could block the eye if it isn’t kept cleared, and an electrical storm could disturb the electromagnetic sensor.
